GPH Ispat signed EPCM agreement with M. N. Dastur

Bangladesh and India are working together for development of economic relation to enhance Trade and Investment in public-private sector of both the countries. Assistant High Commissioner of India Mr. Somnath Halder said this during the agreement Signing Ceremony between GPH Ispat Ltd. and M. N. Dastur & Company (Pvt.) Limited for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Management (EPCM) of GPH’s expanded plant at a local Hotel at Chittagong recently. 

District Commissioner Mesbah Uddin, Vice President of FBCCI & SARC Chamber & President of Chittagong Chamber Mahbubul  Alam,  GPH Ispat Group Chairman Mohammed Jahangir Alam, GPH Ispat Chairman Md. Alamgir Kabir, Additional Managing Director Md. Almas Shimul, Directors Hazi Abdur Rouf, Md. Ashrafuzzaman, Md. Abdul Ahad & Md. Azizul Haque, Executive Director A. B. Siddique, CFO Kamrul Islam, Project Head Dr. A S M Sumon, Media Advisor Osman Gani Choudhury, General Manager Saroj Kanti Chakroborty and other high officials of GPH ispat were present the occasion. 

Speaking on the occasion Chairman of GPH Group said he has been contemplating for the last five years to establish an ultra modern steel plant with latest technology in Bangladesh. For bringing the dream to light GPH Ispat has signed an agreement with Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH in the beginning of this year. Recently GPH has signed an agreement with UCBL along with other 11 Banks for Syndicated Term Loan of USD 154.00 million. Now company is on an agreement with M. N. Dastur & Company (Pvt.) Ltd. which is a reputed and well-acclaimed company renowned globally for EPCM. Establishing this latest modern technology GPH can save 50% of electricity consumption as well as it can reduce of natural gas usage. The state -of –the art technology will also ensure world- class supreme quality products. Implementation of the project, the company’s annual MS Billet  production will be increased to 10,08,000 metric tons and Rebar &  Sections will 7,60,000 metric tons each year including existing one. Besides, the project will generate employment opportunity of about 10,000 Bangladeshi workforce. The project would contribute Taka 245 crore annually to National exchequer.

Md. Alamgir Kabir, Chairman of GPH Ispat Ltd. said this agreement between GPH Ispat and M. N. Dastur & Co. is a milestone in industrialization of Bangladesh. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to all officials of the mission.

Joint Managing Director of M. N. Dastur & Company (Pvt.) Ltd. Avijit Das Gupta said M. N. Dastur is one of the world’s leading EPCM service provider and the company has been successfully operating in different countries. He expressed his gratitude to the GPH Ispat management for choosing them as EPCM partner. He assured that they will complete the project within stipulated time and budget with supervision of professional engineers, skilled technicians and high-tech equipments. At the end of the ceremony Mohammed Jahangir Alam, Chairman of GPH Group and Avijit Das Gupta, joint Managing Director of M. N. Dastur & Company (Pvt.) Ltd. signed the agreement on behalf of respective companies.
